How to Double Your Time Off and Double Your Business

DoubleTimeOff

Last night I was thinking about a time when I took three months off and still doubled my business that year.

Yep. As I zipped around Europe for five weeks my coaching business continued to generate revenue WHILE I WAS AWAY.

And I took a week here and there and enjoyed more fun getaways – each time coming back to more money in my bank account than before I left.

How’s that possible? In the business like coaching doesn’t your income stop when you stop working?

For most people – yes. For me – nope!

It’s not because I’m any smarter than others. (Hey, I barely graduated from high-school so I can’t be that smart!) ;)

I just took the time to figure a few things out and then put in the effort to implement them. That’s it.

Because I’m planning on traveling much more this year I’ve been reflecting on my blessings and realized there are three things I did that allow me to have a highly leveraged business.

First, I created a business model that made my income nearly completely independent from working with individual clients, so taking time off doesn’t hurt me financially.

Second, I have a core team of A-players who can keep things going while I’m away. This includes people who can generate sales – which is obviously a core function in every business.

Third, my partner and I made it a habit to document and systematize all activities that are done on regular basis so they can be outsourced, automated, or delegated.

Give some thought to how you too can create more leveraged revenue, systematize and automate most of your business.

  • You’ve hit upon one of the keys of life and business alignment. Working hard has its place, of course, but so does working smart. Creating systems, scaling, and making the business less dependent on your constant input allows you to have a higher quality of life and stronger business.

    • Monica, you’re right – systems allow for scaling (growth) and automation/delegation which gives us the freedom to have a better life.

However the old working harder vs. smarter thing is actually incorrect. Let me illustrate this. You can work harder and longer hours, but if you’re doing the wrong things it makes no difference – you’ll still not have the results you want. And you can work smarter; get better tools, hire others to help you, create systems to be more efficient… still, the problem remains the same – if you’re working on the wrong things it makes no difference. Finally, can work smarter and harder… but… you see where I’m going with it, right?

So what’s the solution? Working right. Doing the right things the right way. Sadly, few things have it figured out. Even fewer know how to teach it to others.

Now, Monica, you know the real secret, too! ;)

    Thanks Adam!

But once again, there’s that proven buzz word! Systems!LOL!

All the top earners such as yourself, seem to have them!So
    there must be a reason!

It certainly sounds like we need to pay very close attention to your
specific business model and it’s various components! Thanks!
