How to P90X Your Biz (and Get More Clients Fast)
Four years ago I decided to get in a better shape…
I hate the big-box gyms, but I’m pretty athletic, so I started doing some crossfit workouts on my own.
With my limited knowledge my range of exercises was pretty limited – and so were my results.
That’s when I discovered P90X.
I’m sure you’ve heard of it. With over four million copies sold it’s probably the #1 fitness program in the world.
I followed it nearly to the letter. It wasn’t easy, but I stuck with it. 90 days later I was nearly 30 pounds thinner.
In fact, I was so impressed with it that I brought the guy who created it, Tony Horton, to speak at one of my live events.
He turned out to be a fantastic guy, but that’s a story for another day.
That entire experience made me think about how to use what I learned from P90X to grow a business.
Think about it – if something as complex as a human body can be totally transformed in 90 days, imagine what’s possible to accomplish with a business!
Here are three lessons to consider:
1. Keep it simple.
Getting in shape is not about fancy equipment. Just like getting clients isn’t about fancy technology!
It’s more about knowing what to do and how to do it using the resources you already have. And then doing it! ;)
2. Stick to fundamentals!
P90X turned out to be a pretty well round program, but it definitely wasn’t about some fancy fitness moves. It’s pretty basic crossfit routines that nearly everyone can complete.
So is good marketing.
Most people get enamored (and distracted) by fancy gimmicks, when your entire marketing could be slimmed down to just three activities:
#1 – Get Leads
#2 – Make Offers
#3 – Close Sales
3. Do it everyday!
If you’re serious about your fitness you’ve got to do something every day.
Once I got started, I worked out every day – without a break – for nearly six months before I finally missed a day!
Same with business. If you’re serious about growing it, getting involved with some training program once a year and listening to a webinar here and there won’t cut it!
Marketing is a daily activity. If you refuse to do it, you don’t have a business, you only pretend you do!
Marketing is a daily activity. If you refuse to do it, you don’t have a business, you only pretend you do!
So… Do you know what are three top three activities you need to complete daily to make your goals a reality? Are you willing to get them done – day in and day out?
Most people won’t. That’s why they will be exactly where they are right now 90 days from now. Actually, most will be slightly worse off.
Be different.
Excellent post Adam. Change is one step/one day/one action at a time and being consistent. As always you’ve inspired me to keep moving forward. Cheers.
